About Bielefeld
Bielefeld is one of Germany’s 20 largest cities with just under 330,000 inhabitants and an area of 258 sq. km.
Founded by Hermann IV, Earl of Ravensberg as a merchants´ town in 1214, Bielefeld has developed into a city on a "linen thread" as it were.
Today, the university city presents itself as a lively business and cultural metropolis within the East Westphalian economic area with around two million inhabitants.
